Yesterday was Purim, so my week was spent getting ready for it. On Tuesday I went to Target and Party City to buy supplies for our mishalach manos. It's a custom to give gifts of at least 2 types of food to friends on Purim, and people get crazy with themes in our community. It was our first time staying in our neighborhood for Purim as a married couple. We usually go to our friends' Ch.abad house to help with the festivities that they put on for the local college students, but Purim fell out over Spring Break this year (holidays are according to the Jewish Calendar, which is different from the "regular" one, so holidays fall on a different "regular" date each year), and the students weren't in town. We debated visiting other out-of-town friends but ultimately put off making a decision until it was too late to take them up on the offer. Whoops!
Our "theme" was s'mores. I made s'mores hamantaschen Thursday night. Here's the recipe, but I had some trouble with it- first the dough was too crumbly so I added in a tinyyy bit more honey and almond milk, but then it was out-of-control sticky, so I had to add a ton of flour and work with tiny amounts of dough at a time. So unfortunately, these weren't exactly made with love... they were made with a lot of swear words. ;) But everyone LOVED them, so I guess it was worth it!
I also made this to print out and tape to the bags:
Oh, and E decided on SATURDAY that he wanted us to dress up in costumes (we usually do for the college Purim parties, but I figured that since we were staying home we would skip it. Apparently E missed that memo). So while E was out at a get-together with his friends Saturday night, I scrambled to throw together our costumes with stuff we miraculously already had on hand.
Here's the outcome:
Haha. Anyway... on to the 10-week questionnaire:
How far along: 10 weeks 6 days
Size of baby: Prune, lol
Physical symptoms: Somewhat sore boobs. Bloated. Tired. Sensitive to smells, very "gaggy", crazy nauseous when my nausea medication wears off (sometimes I forget to take it on time but am quickly reminded). Some weird cravings/food aversions. The weird dreams haven't really been happening though.
Weight gain/loss: Same, haven't really gained anything (scale goes up and down). E has gained about 15lbs though, haha. He checked for the first time in months last night and was unpleasantly surprised. Whoops!
Maternity clothes: Not yet, but my Mary Poppins skirt was a little tighter than usual yesterday.
Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: Not sleeping great- I'll fiiiinally fall asleep and then I'll wake up having to pee OR I wake up in the middle of the night STARVING. It happened 2x Friday night. But after barely sleeping Friday and Saturday nights this weekend, I slept 12+ hours last night, lol.
Best moment since last week: Realizing that this was (hopefully) our last solo (as a couple) Purim. :) And starting to plan costumes for next year! Maybe Wizard of Oz theme, haha.
Movement: Not yet.
Cravings/Aversions: Sweet things still mostly taste "off". Still want spicy or sour things. Cooked tomatoes, even just the smell (and now sight), still make me gag (pasta sauces, etc). Chicken, meat and fish (raw or cooked) are still grossing me out-- except for gefilte fish (baked "my" way) and brisket (which I've never made but we had it at the fundraiser last week and it was amazing with coleslaw). Still have an unanswered craving for daikon (pickled radish) roll of sushi, but I had cucumber avocado and mango avocado rolls with REALLY good wasabi yesterday and that was great. Still want spicy Indian food.
Gender: Mom and E still calling it a "he", and today my grandmother said she thinks it's a girl and grampy said he thinks it's a boy.
Labor signs: Hopefully not for 6+ months!
Belly button: Innie
What I miss: Alcohol once every so often, real sushi, deli meat, soft cheeses... lol. All food.
What I am looking forward to: Next Wednesday's 12 week appointment! I haven't had an ultrasound in 3 weeks and I'm freaked out. Also realllly looking forward to getting to the 2nd trimester and hoping the nausea will end.

You guys are adorable! Glad things are going well!
