9 Week Update

I'm not feeling great but I wanted to bang out a 9-week update before it's too late! The black-tie fundraiser was kind of fun. I was a little self-conscious in the green sequined gown that I rented, but I got a million compliments so I couldn't have looked too horrendous. ;) And the food was really good- there was this brisket that they served on mini buns and it was to die for. And I got to have Shirley Temples all night so that's a win in my book. E walked around with a glass of scotch all night and felt like a big shot in his tux. If I find an okay pic (mine all came out pretty dark) I'll post one!

I'm finding that I'm still experiencing that punched-in-the-gut feeling every time I hear or see another pregnancy announcement. Which catches me off guard, because, helloooo. Maybe that'll go away once we aren't keeping this a secret anymore? I dunno. Maybe it's like mild PTSD from the last 5 years? Yikes.

We watched the movie 9 Months (with Hugh Grant and Julianne Moore) this week. It was funny, but it probably would've been funnier post-birth, because parts of the pregnancy/labor were exaggerated and terrifying for me, ha ha.

Ok, on to the questionnaire:

How far along: 9 weeks 5 days

Size of baby: Olive

Physical symptoms: Somewhat sore boobs. Bloated. Tiiiired. Still sensitive to smells, very "gaggy", mildly nauseous constantly with REALLY nauseous days every few days. Still getting short-lived cravings. REALLY bizarre dreams multiple times a night.

Weight gain/loss: About the same. Good news is that the next two days are supposed to be relatively nice weather, so I'm going to pushhhh myself to go out and walk around. "Exercise"?? Wahoo!

Maternity clothes: Nope, I even wore real nylons yesterday and they still fit (I've been wearing leggings and stretchier tights all winter, but yesterday's weather was so nice that I threw on some thinner stockings and regular flats instead of boots! Hurray!)

Stretch marks: Nope

Sleep: Not sleeping great- I'll fiiiinally fall asleep and then I'll wake up having to pee. Happens about 5+ times a night. It's real cute.

Best moment since last week: It's been a pretty uneventful week... I'm just grateful for each day and hope each passing day puts us in a safer zone. Idk.

Movement: Nope

Cravings/Aversions: Same as last week- sweet things still mostly taste "off". Still want spicy or sour things. Cooked tomatoes, even just the smell, make me gag (includes pasta sauces, etc). Chicken, meat and fish (raw or cooked) are still grossing me out. I really wanted a fancy pizza from this restaurant down the street last night- bosc pear and bleu cheese. Yum. And I've been craving a daikon (pickled radish) roll of sushi but nowhere in our neighborhood has it. Might have to venture out for that at some point.

Gender: No idea. Kind of leaning towards girl this week.

Labor signs: Hopefully not for 7+ months!

Belly button:  Innie

What I miss:  Nothing!

What I am looking forward to: Tuesday and hitting the 10 week mark (5/6 of the way through the 1st trimester!!!). And the 12 week appointment that I need to call and set up. Idk how I'm gonna wait that long...

    1. It's crazy, right (about the PTSD-like reactions). Thank you so much.. Under two weeks till the 2nd semester now, it's total insanity. :)

  2. Hi T,
I came across your blog yesterday, and I read through the whole thing. Sorry if I'm being stalker-like, but I wanted to comment how upbeat your tone is through the whole blog, even through the not so happy parts of it. I was honestly very glad to read that you are pregnant, B'sha'ah Tovah u' Mitzlachas!

    1. Wow! Thank you so so much. I have to say it's a relief that you got an upbeat vibe from it, I always worry that I'm complaining too much. :) Thanks for your kind words!
